Compact is not working

I noticed that when users try to compact their mailboxes from the properties of their mailbox, the compact task does not perform what is expected.

The problem began right after I have turned on Transactional logging and Tivoli Storage Management backup.

A work-around was to issue a console command “load compact mail\filename.nsf -B”. However, this is not so convinient since users begin to receive the Quota warnings… then delete some emails / archive and then they fail to compact their mailbox so that quota warnings stop.

Please assist.

Subject: Compact is not working

When enabling Transactional logging it is a good way to run compact -B on server-side and after that a full backup with TSM.The reason is, that compact -B changes the DBIID of the database and so - if you don’t make a full backup - you cannot restore databases and transactions.
