Client minimum files in data folder

Hi,our helpdesk team is trying to optimize the client for users and they want to clean the data folder. it seems that there might be a lot of stuff there that doesn’t necessarily need to be there; like templates.

can anyone tell me which files are safe to delete that are not useful to the notes client directly. in other words what are the minimum files that needs to be in the Data folder of notes.

thanks.

You need only:names.nsf

autosave.nsf (if you are using R7)

bookmark.ntf (or .nsf → if you are using bookmarks)

desktop6.ndk (if you are using workspace instead of bookmarks)

log.nsf (nice to have)

Subject: RE: client minimum files in data folder

names.nsf, log.nsf and desktop6.ndk are created when configuring the client.

for this to happen the following files are needed:

pernames.ntf → names.nsf

cache.ntf → cache.ndk

log.ntf → log.nsf

bookmark.ntf → bookmark.nsf

additional files you may want/need are:

busytime.ntf , mailbox.ntf (for laptop users)

headline.ntf

you want to keep the non-nsf/ntf files in the data dir as well (those don’t use that much space anyway)

Don’t forget the following:

User.ID

US.DIC (dictionary files)

USER.DIC (dictionary files)

Files in the HELP directory should stay or the help fuction in Notes will fail.

There may be more necessary files. I’d also include the bookmark.ntf and pernames.ntf templates should you need to recreate or update the bookmarks.nsf and names.nsf (local) datbases.
