Cleaning Archive Mode Transaction Logs after backup

Hi,

We are taking daily incremental and weekly full backups on our Domino Server. Servers transactional logging is enabled and it is in archive mode. After incremental backup completed, increasing of log file size stops until transaction volume passes the current log size. I understand from this that space is freed up by backup software inside the log files. But unused log files are not deleted from filesystem automatically. When I restart Domino, unused log files are deleted from filesystem.

Is there any way to clean-up unused log files without restarting Domino?

Thanks,

No, unfortunately. It is definitely not recommended to delete the txn file manually but it can be done if they are not in use by the system and the time stamps on the files are much older than the current txn files being used and re-created by the TA logger. If you perform weekly maintenance on your server along with a system re-boot it shouldn’t be a problem.
