Chat window not opened via web (integrated with Verse on-Premise)

Hi team.

Hope you're all doing fine and staying safe.

We're facing this odd behavior with Verse On-Premise 2.2.0a (on top of Domino 12.0.1 FP1 IF1 on RHEL 8) + Sametime on-Premise (Community + Proxy) 11.6 (on top of Domino 11.0.1 FP1 on RHEL 8) all integrated with SSO:

When user's B, C or D (using Notes Client or Verse / browser) attempt to start a Sametime chat with user A (which is using pure Verse / browser, with or without Sametime PWA installed on Chrome/Edge on Windows), user A won't get the Sametime Window open unless he first open the Sametime chat Window from Important People.

Actually, users B, C, D, etc. get a message stating that the message to user A was not received:

Please note User A do receive the messages; they appear as unread when he manually opens the chat window.

Browser notifications have been enabled for both FQDN, domino/verse and Sametime.

Browser Pop-ups have been enabled for both FQDN, domino/verse and Sametime

Even ads have been enabled for both FQDN.

Once User A opens on his side the chat window from (Verse) Important People (and after having Sametime PWA installed) for the first time, then new chats from Users B, C, D, etc. pop-ups automagically.

Have anyone faced this ?

Is there anything that we might have missed ?

Thank you very much in advance.

Sincerely,

Elvis.

Hello Elvis,

This reads as if may be related to this existing Defect Article:

Selecting "Chat" from iNotes using the contact option fails to open a new chat conversation (hcltechsw.com)

You add additional detail, and explain a work around by opening via Important People. Does anything change if you instead follow the work around within the above link, which reads:

Workaround

The issue is only seen when no chat history exists or the chat has been previously closed. When the issue is seen, close the chat and attempt the chat again.

Double clicking a user to initiate a chat from the contact is not affected by this issue and will be successful.

If you believe you are seeing a new problem altogether, please open a support ticket so that we may discern whether we have unreported behavior.

Best Regards, Keith Kopanski

Hi Keith.

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

Yes, it surely seems similar, as Verse relies on iNotes. But, the issue is not from the User A; when user A initiates the chat, Users B, C and D receive the proper notification.

The issue is only backwards; from B, C, D, etc. when attempting to chat to User A.

Anyway, I'll try to reproduce this behavior with user and I'll post my finding.

Sincerely,

Elvis.

Hi everybody.

Just to update that this is currently not reproducible.

Sincerely,

Elvis.

@Elvis E. Henriquez A.

Please see if this issue is reproducible if USER A is using the native web client [https://proxyserver FQDN/chat/]

if you are able to reproduce with the native Web client, open a case with support so that we can investigate further

Hi Daniel.

Thanks for your suggestion.

We have tried that (having a Tab opened with this URL, and it actually didn't open a chat window).

I'd then take your suggestion and submit a case.

Sincerely,

Elvis.
