Hi team.
Hope you're all doing great and staying safe.
Is there any procedure, suggestion or avoidance for changing the hostname of a Sametime 11.6 Linux Server?
This is a small environment.
It only has one single Red Hat Linux host providing both Community and Proxy, both 11.6, plus MongoDB, on top of Domino 11.0.1 FP5.
I found some information about CHGLSTDOM in IBM i, but I haven't found any information regarding Linux environment.
I noticed also there is some info related for MongoDB here: https://youtu.be/EDahsYlJvLg
Thank you very much in advance.
Sincerely,
Elvis
Hi Elvis,
I have recently and successfully changed my Linux host name, the OS host name, in which Community is installed. Presuming this is what you're after.
You could do a terminal command, man hostname <enter> for options, you could also do a google search, for example, "How to change hostname in CentOS/RHEL 7 ... depending upon your version of Linux.
In most cases the change will simply be terminal command hostname newHostname <enter>
hostname <enter> by itself will show us the hostname ... You can search on other examples to ensure the change is permanent. A good rule of thumb would be, and of course - note the original host name in case you need to revert back.
Let us know please whether this is what you're after. Changing the host name of the Linux OS is fairly straight forward.

Hi Keith.
Thank you very much for your response.
And apologies for not making myself clear on the request.
I was not asking about how to change it on the operating system itself.
I was referring to what steps are required to be performed in Sametime Community and in Sametime Proxy once it has been changed at OS.
There are changes that need to be done in sametime.ini, some xml files, MongoDB entries, for a successful hostname change and all Sametime components continue working seamlessly.
Sincerely,
Elvis.
Hi Elvis,
I do not believe that we would ever suggest making those changes. If you would like full confirmation then I suggest opening a support case. (We could then return here and update with our answer).
IBM i (formerly AS/400, iSeries, etc) we stopped supporting Sametime after version 9.
Best, Keith
Hi Elvis,
Thank you for opening a support case with us.
Adding our official answer; technically this may be possible to do with hard work, but it is not something simple nor documented... Unfortunately, changes to the URL/hostname are not supported at this time and this may be addressed in a future release, but there is no timeline released on this matter.
Best Regards, Keith Kopanski
Hi Keith.
Thank you very much for your update here.
There were no change to the URL / Friendly public name.
Only to the internal hostname (private hostname).
And yes, there was a hard work after that, but everything is working now.
Just wanted to double check if there is known procedure or checklist when this is required.
If I understood it correctly, based on your response, simply changing the internal private hostname is not supported.
Sincerely,
Elvis.
