Hi-
I am posting this to ask one maybe strange question:
Can Lotus Script do sth like:
-
get handler of a form/subform
-
get handler of a field in the form
-
change the default value of that field
-
save the modified form/subform
Thanks

Search for some of these in the on-line help:DXL, DxlImporter, NotesDOMDocumentNode, NotesXSLTransformer, …
Subject: Change design by ls script
You can use DXL or you can use the C API or you can use a product such as our Midas Rich Text LSX, where the code would be a few lines long. DXL is cheapest (in terms of money), C API is most flexible but really, really complex, and Midas is fastest, but costs something.
If you decide to go with DXL, the easist approach is to dump the form to DXL with the default value one way and save the file. Then dump it aftre manually making the change you want, and dump and save that to DXL. Now, look at the differences.

You could do this using DXL (NotesDXLExporter, NotesDOMParser, NotesDXLImporter) or the C API. The Ives Teamstudio tools (www.teamstudio.com) also contain a tool called Configurator that lets you edit a design, doind search and replace in formulas.
(information added later) it occurs to me, also, that if the default formula is one that changes regularly, you could store the value you want in a profile document and just have one formula that never changes, that reads that value. Or, you could store the formula in a profile document and use @Eval.

Thanks, Andre, Ben and Doug. DXL is what I want.
JY, thank you as well. I have to replace design programatically.

Why not replace the design each night?
If not, you can replace the db design by script.
You can copy a single design element in a destination db.
