Can't setup a roaming user at a new workstation

When trying to set up a roaming user on a new PC, I am getting the error “File object is truncated - file may have been damaged”.

They are currently setup and working fine on a temporary Mac, but I want to set them on to a Laptop (Win XP), and I keep getting this error.

They are a roaming user, and I have also tried on another Win 2k3 server with v8.0 and still get an identical error.

I have seen this page:

But the server is version 7, and the user has never had a v6 (or prior) setup. Plus I have no idea how to upgrade them from flat in their address book (I tried in the Administrator to “Rename > Upgrade to Hierarichal”, but it failed and the log said it was already.

Any ideas???
