Dear all,Does anyone know why i can’t send mail using Lotus Notes after my company use leased line. We can still receive incoming mail. When i try to send using hotmail account, it works. Before this, we are using ISDN and there is no problem at that time. Is there any setting that i need to ammend after we change from ISDN to Leased Line? Thanks a lot. your help is highly appreciated.

Your server’s IP address most likely changed and your DNS MX record will need to point to the new IP address.

Dear Rob,Thnx for ur reply. i checked the IP address, remain the same. this is confirm. it can be telnet & connected. i can use other mail client like hotmail to send. i can also receive mail. But when i send mail using Lotus Notes, i got this message: “Error: 5.7.1…unable to relay to ”
what do u mean by DNS MX record? where to find this & how to configure it?
Is there any other step / procedure that i’ve missed out in the Domino Admin? Do i need a connection Doc. from my Dom Server to the smtp server on the hosting party?
Please help me…it is very urgent! Thanks from the bottom of my heart!

Carmen,After re-reading your post. . . I a gave you some bad information. Your inbound is working it is your out bound that you are having problems with. The MX record is used to tell others how to reach your server.
I need more information on your configuration. The other client types that you have tried, were they used directly through your Internet connection or through a Domino server? Are you relaying through your ISP/a firewall? Or or you connecting directly to the Internet?
The FQHN error I believe may indicate that you do not have your servers Full Qualified Host Name populated on the server document. I would start there.

Dear Rob,Thnx. the connection goes like this : Machine (has Domino server, Notes Client, Ms outlook, IE browser installed on it)–> switch → firewall → router → leased line → hosting company / internet. i have tried sending mail using hotmail account & Ms Outlook, it goes out successfully. But when i use Notes Mail, in console stated Error: 5.7.1…unable to relay to smtp.webnet.com.my.
i have checked the server doc., which FQHN i have to type? the server.xyz.com.my or the smtp.tmweb.com.my? if this is right but i still can’t connect, what can i do? This machine is running on MS 2000 Server & i have disable the Ms SMTP services so that only SMTP Listener task in Domino is enabled. The Domino is R5.0.8
What else can i do?
May i know where is the SMTP connection doc.? & where can i find setting for POP? which doc? which field? Pls help. Sorry, but it really need to be done by today…Thnx a lot, Rob. i appreciate you.

Carmen,The trace command being issued is really for NRPC connections not SMTP, so the informaiton returned by the Domino server is really misleading.

The FQHN that is needed is for your domino server. I need to know if you plan to send mail directly from your Domino server or to relay it through your ISP or your firewall?
Another thing you can do that I find quite helpful to troubleshoot these problems is to set the following notes.ini parameter smtpclientdebug=1
