Can't access Personal Journal with new account

I have a user who’s last name has changed due to a marriage. I’ve setup a new user with her new name and configured her notes client to access the new mail file etc…

She informed me that she had a personal journal with her other account which is stored locally on her machine. Problem is I can’t open the journal.nsf file nor can she with her new ID.

I assumed that because I am the admin I should be able to… why can’t either one of us open it? Is there a way aside from accessing it with her old ID to open it ? Maybe import it to her new account?

TIA for any suggestions!

There was no reason to create a new account. You can rename users pretty easily in Domino Administrator by right-clicking the person and selecting Rename.

You don’t say whether you get any errors, but I’ll bet you’re getting something like “this database has local access protection”. The most likely reason you can’t access the journal is that it is locally encrypted. It can only be accessed by using the ID used to do the encryption.

I get you are not authorized to access this database.

I will access it via her old notes ID.

I wanted to rename her account but I also wanted to preserve her old email address so it would still receive email. I wasn’t quite sure how to do that.
