I have a user who somehow managed to delete her Inbox while in WebMail. I recreated it from the Notes Client and told her she’d have to move her new mail back into it from “All Documents.” The problem is, this is not an option from the Web, although it’s elementary from Notes. To my memory, it WAS available in WebMail 5.x – why was it removed? Or am I missing something? This user does not have the Notes Client available, so if she can’t do this, I’m going to have to. Suggestions? Comments?

First of all, no version has ever given a user the ability to move anything out of the ($All) view; you mean copy. But you are correct that the R6 webmail UI does not let the user copy or move documents from either folders or views into the Inbox, and my memory tends to agree with yours about R5 allowing it.
The real question, of course, is why you’re not using the iNotes/DWA UI?

Sorry, my mistake in wording – I did mean copy. Boy, I’ve explained THAT to enough end-users!
As to why we aren’t using iNotes, it was initially considered and rejected as being too “heavy” a client for our WebMail users, many of which are still stuck with dial-up connections. WebMail is supposed to be used only in those situations where they can’t get to their Notes – but for some of our users, that’s every day. Currently, the Domino Administrators have decided not to try to implement iNotes since (whine, whimper) our days on Notes of any form appear to be numbered.
And of course, things like disappearing functionality don’t help.

I figured that dial-up might be part of your response. Anyway, I don’t see why you can’t add the ($Inbox) folder back into the folder drop-down in the mail template; I haven’t looked, but I assume it’s fairly straightforward – although a bit of a PITA to have to add functionality back in that Lotus took out.

Agreed on the question of pain. Fact is, I don’t dare touch the design – it’s not “in my job description.” I can do certain approved things related to individual databases, but there is no way I would get this approved. After having modified earlier templates and had to deal with Lotus’ attitude of, “Well, it’s all the fault of your modifications,” our management resolved to play with this one as little as possible. Besides, I’ve seen one complaint about this functionality in over a year so far… I guess we can live with it.
Thanks very much for your help.
