Cannot delete document - Authour

Is the possibility to get answers/comments less when the thread gets longer? It seems so if I look at my previous discussions…

To the problem here:

Authours cannot delete documents they have created.

I have had an authoursfield but I have deleted it.

I have tried an agent with:

FIELD AuthorField := @DeleteField

And even this suggestion:

Furthermore I created a new form with only one text-field in order to test if the user can delete documents created from this form.

To my surprise I get the same error-mess as before - cannot delete the doc … !

I didn’t see your previous thread on this so I’ll just go by what you’ve written here.

If you have Author Access w/ Delete rights to a db and your name is in an AuthorNames field in a document (SUMMARY READ-WRITE) and your name is correctly canonical (or flat if server hierarchy is the same as yours) then you can delete the document.

To troubleshoot, I would confirm the ACL, the delete checkmark, the field type, and the spelling of the name.

The functionality works consistently across many platforms, companies, and customers, so I’m confident that it works for you, too. There must be something special you have that makes it fail here.

Were it my application, I would do a sanity check by

  1. Creating a brand new db on the server, grant a test user Author w/ Delete, make a form with an Author Names field and have the formula @UserName.

  2. Have this user create and save 2 documents.

  3. Have this user edit and save both documents.

  4. Have this user delete one of the documents.

If the breakdown occurs on step #3, then you know it’s the ACL or the authors field. If it’s on #4 then you know the authors field is working (#3) so then you can think about what might prevent deletion specifically.
