Unless you forward the mails to one mailbox.
Subject: There is a lot of third-party solutions
I believe you’re mean some of mail-in databases → one user.I haven’t idea how to perform this task by native tools else than scheduled agent.
Other way is tools like Notes minder. I’ve saw a lot of them.

Hi,sorry but I would not use forward but only rule in rules folder, where you can set that if owner mailbox got some mail to the inbox so client resend to any address only header mail.
I recommend you look on rules setting.
Best regards

Instead of forwarding whole mails, you could have an LS agent in the the databases which sends a notifition to the user, with a short message including a doclink to the original mail.

Hi All
Thank you for your contributions.
I don’t have a view subscription either for the article.
Mail rules, forwarding etc are all fine but not what is required. The requirement is to have Notes Minder type of popup when mail arrives in any one of a group of mail files.
I am quite proficient at writing LS code but want to know whether this can be done without having to keep every one of the mail files open.
Thanks

Articles from The View are available as individual reprints. Not only may I not legally send you a copy, but I like people to buy reprints because it encourages the editors at The View to py me more for future articles. ![]()
The basis of that particular article is that you allocate a tiny rectangle on your welcome page to keeping the page open that runs the script that checks for new documents in the various mail databases. The mail database don’t need to remain open on screen – though, obviously, the script has to open them in the back end to check for new documents.

Hi Andre
Thank you for your explanation. Ok, now I know there is no standard prescribed way of doing it, I can get on with an agent.
Thanks again

it’s not email based but have you thought of using subscriptions? at least that way they only have to create a subscription to each mail file once and then just open the local headlines database whenever they want to check for new messages.
lookup subscriptions in the user help.

Hi Raymond
Thank you for the suggestion and yes this is yet another potential solution.
The problem is that the client has a group of employees who work as part of a team in a busy office. Their work is such that they have to deal with mail as it arrives but they move around the office quite a lot. A Notes minder type of alert making a sound and or least popping up is something that helps. They can’t be at their desks, manually checking the headlines all the time.
It would be great if Notes minder could be configured to check whatever target databases you select (if you have the proper access rights to it).
Thanks again

See this article for another approach: http://www.eview.com/eview/viewr5.nsf/0/e41f89dac17c2b5885256a55007c9557?OpenDocument

Andre,
I don’t have a VIEW subscription. I have downloaded the .nsf and can reverse engineer it, but is this technique documented somewhere that I can get to?
Tnx,
Bob

The code is well-enough documented. As for the current request, Andre may not have complete control there – copyright agreements with The View may prevent him from replicating the article (or portions thereof, or any substantially similar) elsewhere.
