Can Notes restrict use of "common" words as passwords?

I've been asked if Domino can restrict the use of "common passwords sourced from GitHub". I've never heard of Domino being able to implement such a restriction on passwords. But I thought I'd ask here, in case I missed a newly added feature.

Hi rob

There is nothing like that inbuilt into Domino. Beyond, "Use Custom Password Policy for Notes Client" in the security section of the policy documents, there doesnt seem to be any thing more.

Please see the screen shot below

Not sure to remember well, but in the past the notes client refused a password if it was in the notes dictionary

Hello Rob,

Hope you are doing well.

Regarding your concern about Special characters supported in HCL Domino password, use of special characters (punctuation characters) such as ! " # % & ' ( ) *, . / : ; ? @ [ \ ] _ { }

The Administrator can restrict or prohibit the use of the following in user passwords by using custom security (password) policy.

  • user name as part of the password
  • repeating characters
  • unique characters
  • use of special characters (punctuation characters) such as ! " # % & ' ( ) *, . / : ; ? @ [ \ ] _ { }
  • use of numbers, uppercase and lowercase characters
  • starting or ending passwords with certain character types
  • combinations of non-lowercase characters

Additionally, the Administrator can manage password complexity and quality by using Custom password Security policy.

Please refer the following HCL Support links for more information about Custom password policies

https://help.hcl-software.com/domino/12.0.2/admin/conf_custompasswordpolicies_r.html

I hope the above information will help in answering your concerns.

Thanks & Regards
