Can I run multiple Designer DDE sessions?

With ND8.0, I was able to run multiple Basic Client sessions, thereby allowing me to work with multiple customers at the same time. After upgrading, when I try to open Designer from the Basic Client, I get a status bar message telling me that Designer is no longer available for the Basic Client and I have to run the Std Client to launch Designer.

Is there a way for me to launch multiple Designer DDE sessions?

Subject: no, you can’t. one session and one id at a time

Subject: Argh! That’s terrible!

Maybe it’s just me, but as a consultant, I find myself often working on multiple customer issues at the same time. Now, when the phone rings, I’ll have to switch id’s - which closes all my open windows - do my work - and then switch back and restart. (and then hope the phone doesn’t ring again)

I know it probably isn’t a simple thing to do, but if there was any way possible to be able to launch Designer DDE multiple times, it would really, really be a HUGE timesaver.

This little problem is a real setback for me.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanx for listening…

Subject: while I agree with the problem …

the issue is how many people does this effect? is it worth the major cost to make this work that way? So far it seems that answer is no.

I never switch IDs in Notes any more. I do all of my client dev in a dedicated VM for each client. that way I can have multiple client environments running at the same time. I prefer this option.

Subject: hmm… no kidding…

Well, then, how do I go about setting that up? Can you point me in the right direction?
