I have developed a C++ Extension and added the necessary information in the users’ notes.ini, i.e:
EXTMGR_ADDINS=myaddin.dll
This works fine when installing on a single-user installation on Windows. When installing on a Multi-User installation I update the notes.ini in the “All Users” location.
ex:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lotus\Notes\Data\notes.ini
However, the addin does not load(?). Is there any way of telling Notes to load my addin regardless of which user that logs in, in a mult-user environment?
Best regards, Peter

I believe each logged in user has their own copy of the Notes.ini file in the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings<Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Lotus\Notes\Data
You’ll probably need to go through and update each & all of them.

Hm, yes, that was what I was afraid of. There is really no problem doing this, but the problem arise when new users are beeing created on the computer since they will not automatically get the addon to load.
Anyways, thanks for your tip.
Still, I wonder why there is a notes.ini in the “All Users” folder if it doesn’t do anything. It seems really odd.

You could also put a button on some form or application to update the Notes.ini file for new users.
For example the button Lotusscript formula would be:
Dim Session As New NotesSession
Dim myDLL As String
Dim ExtMgrDLL As String
myDLL = “myaddin.dll”
ExtMgrDLL = Session.GetEnvironmentString(“EXTMGR_ADDINS”, true)
If Instr(1, Lcase(ExtMgrDLL), Lcase(myDLL)) = 0 Then
If Trim(ExtMgrDLL) <> “” Then
ExtMgrDLL = ExtMgrDLL & ","
End If
ExtMgrDLL = ExtMgrDLL & myDLL
Call Session.SetEnvironmentVar(“EXTMGR_ADDINS”, ExtMgrDLL, true)
End If
