Bye Bye Forum

Hi all,

I say Good Bye in advance, as I have not found a way to do a HCL complient 2 factor authentification to enter the new super-duper forum and HCL intends to switch this old one off soon.

No, pin code via email or SMS is not supported.

So have a good time.

Joe

For me 2-factor using an authenticator app is working fine:

No mobile phone available ?

Hi. Same here.

It even happens to be a little more secure than in other sites:

For resetting password, it requests it, as opposite as other sites, which will simply send the email and allow password reset, without asking a 2FA. That was nice.

So, yes, I confirm also that 2FA is available in the new portal, under Preferences - Security:

Best,

Elvis.

Yes I use my good old Nokia E7. It does all I need.

Anything else I do on my Notebook/PC.

How many devices are needed for a secure authentication ?

Joe

I hear you. I'm not doing financial trades there, so why bothering about highly secure access...

After some grumbling I tried it with Firefox and Passkey and can no login on macos just by using my fingerprint, which is totally fine for me.

Tried Chromium too, but it was insisting in using a smartphone camera app for the passkey, which really sucks.

Hi everyone – like others here I had trouble working through the 2 Factor authentification using the QR code via Google – with it prompting for credit card details etc (no way !!!).
In the end I discovered that you can use MS Authenticator.
To do this:

  1. Open Authenticator on your phone (in my case Samsung/Android)
  2. Select Verified ID’s ( menu bottom right )
  3. Scan the HCL QR code
  4. Select enter manually which will display a very long code ( see example below)
  5. In Authenticator rather than scan the QR code, select enter manually
  6. Add Account - select Other Account
  7. Enter a Name ( eg HCL) & the Secret Key – the long one from above
  8. Click Finish and Authenticator will be updated with HCL and start generating 2 Factor codes.

Hope this helps. Murray
