We have a lot of people that have had issues with the bookmarks.nsf file not working (causing notes to crash, not showing any tabs) and upon deleting it notes seems to work, but only for awhile until it corrupts again. I talked with a friend of mine who is a notes engineer and he stated that I should also remove the cache.ndk. I’ve read that they both would be recreated and that the cache file holds design elements, but I’m wondering how it relates to the bookmarks.nsf and if removing it as well as the bookmarks.nsf file will solve our issue or if removing the cache.ndk is strictly a performance boost.
Subject: bookmarks.nsf and cache.ndk
Steven,
These two files are relate to the Desktop6.NDK. Many time the Desktop6.ndk is the file that get corrupted causing the Notes client to register a RED BOX…Deleting the boomark.nsf and cache.ndk will help. but also get inthe habits of compacting the Desktop6.ndk.

What happened
Your DESKTOP6.NDK file, which contains the list of icons appearing on your desktop and any private folders or views you may have, is invalid for the operating system you’re using. The file may be corrupt, intended for an earlier release of Notes, or may be a copy of a DESKTOP6.NDK file for Notes on a different operating system (for example, Windows instead of Macintosh).
Note Keep a backup of your DESKTOP6.NDK file.
What you can do
If you have a backup copy of DESKTOP6.NDK, click No. Then, using your operating system, replace the copy in your Notes data directory with the backup copy and restart Notes.
If you have no backup copy, click Yes. Notes will automatically create a new DESKTOP6.NDK file. Then choose File - Database - Open to restore all the icons you want to your bookmarks.
