Blackberry will not sync with 6.5

I am using latest blackberry software witha enw blackberry and it simply will not sync using the built-in intellisync software with Notes calendar, tasks and todo (or email). We run the blackberry enterprise server so I can get wireless email.

I am running the blackberry desktop manager 3.6.1.21 (Oct 28 2003). It has a a Lotus Notes 5.0/6.0 translater but when I select it, the OK button is grayed out. I have tried solutions on this forum, including copying the nstrings.dll from an R5 installation, but it does not work. I have a second PC with Notes 5.0.11 and I can get it to work with that, but not with my 6.5 client machine. I am running the 6.5 mail template.

Any ideas. I can’t get through to blackberry technical support.

Maybe this is a helpful document. Not a perfect match but it should be helpful for a couple of people with similar or same problem.

“ok button is unavailable” in this document might correct the problem using the workaround.

i think that there is a desktop manager (3.6.2.9) out which now includes the pumatech support for N6.5

Subject: this seems to work

I think step 3 should come first.

There is a workaround to support Intellisync synchronization with Lotus Notes R6.0 that can be used in the interim with the v3.6 SP1 Desktop release until the v3.6 SP3 Desktop release is available.

Our QA team has done testing with this workaround and found an issue related to Recurring Tasks as follows:

Duplicates added to handheld for every recurring task from Notes 6.5. For each recurring task, 2 tasks appear on the handheld after the sync. The correct recurring task is synched over.

The brief summary of this workaround is as follows:

  1. Find a “nstrings.dll” from a Lotus Notes R5.0/R6.0 client and copy it to the Lotus Notes R6.5 program directory

  2. Shut down both the Desktop Manager and the Lotus Notes R6.5 client on the target machine

  3. Rename the existing Lotus Notes R6.5 “nstrings.dll” to “nstrings.old”

  4. Go into Desktop Manager - Intellisync - Configure PIM and select the Lotus Notes 5.0/6.0 connector for the PIM’s required

  5. Put the “nstrings.old” file back in place as the “nstrings.dll” in the Lotus Notes R6.5 program directory

Subject: this seems to work - It sure does!

Wayne,Nice job laying out the workaround. I tried your resolution (using step 3 first, then getting a nstrings.dll from a 6.03 client). I was then able to synchronize my calendar, tasks, and email just fine using the Notes 5.0/6.0 translator option.

Thanks again
