Blackberry Mobile Data Service

we have just had a blackberry BES server installed in our domain and it’s working fine for everything except the Mobile Data Service (MDS).

the install asks for a user account and password to set this up which has rights to the appropriate mail dbs, and the server’s proxy is set to allow web browsing via proxy (with the need for a password).

the error logs says

Please make sure the system is setup for Native Notes API access

NotesException: Server access denied

anyone have an idea on this ?

Is the HTTP task up and running properly? That was a problem that I had with it.

it is now. restarted it all. still not working - getting native notes error still.

can you browse to http://server:8080 on your server ?

hi there,

with sp2 of the bes what actually happened is that RIM dropped the notessql driver (caused too many problems). so from that point onwards the mds id uses the internet password from the person document rather than the id password (does not apply if you choose to keep on using notessql ;-).

Subject: some items to check. which version of bes are u running?

  1. Is the Mobile Data Service running?2. Are you using an MDS Service notes userid with an Internet password?

  2. Is that userid available locally and is it only used by MDS?

  3. Is it a member of the BlackberryAdmins group?

  4. Does it reside in the same domain as the BES server?

  5. did you update the server document run unresticted settings to include the blackberry admins group?

  6. are users accessing content hosted on servers outside the firewall? If yes you must setup a PAC file.

  7. are you running win 2k service pack 3 or later?

Subject: RE: some items to check. which version of bes are u running?

hi

  1. yes.

  2. yes, user has full admin rights, same password for internet and notes. mds uninstalled and reinstalled too to confirm

  3. id local. no local notes client install though (as per instructions) and only for MDS

4.yes, and main admin group too for mail file access

6.no, added the blackberry server to run agents in server doc only

  1. trying too, getting mds not available on blackberry. mds set to use proxy with no password requirements. server works fine with it

  2. service pack 4 combined to w2k cd from MS is installed.

so, blackberry admin group needs to run agents on server doc too then ?

thanks

Have you installed the Notes SQL Driver?

Subject: RE: Blackberry Mobile Data Service

sorted it now.

th enew version doesn’t need the notes sql driver - you must remove it, plus the server doc needs the server and the mobile data service user in the run agents fields.

only had the server before.

thanks everyone.
