Blackberry - Domino - iSeries

I’m hoping some people have had some experience with this. We’re looking to obtain some Blackberry devices for about 10-15 people in our organization. Although the Blackberry software integrates with Lotus Domino, there is no iSeries Blackberry software.

From what I understand, a separate Domino server would have to be installed on a Windows 2003 server along with the Blackberry Enterprise server. Somehow I guess, that Domino server could communicate with our main mail server for wireless synchronization.

Has anybody set up this kind of environment? Also, since we’re not a large company, would we be able to obtain the same results using Blackberry Professional Software (Which would cost us $850 initially as opposed to $4000), instead of BES?

Any info anybody has would be great.

Thanks

No need to use BES if you just want to send/ receive Domino emails into the Blackberry. Just use BIS and create your own ‘rule’ (that will be fowarding all incoming emails to your email in the Blackberry) in the Domino emailserver.

Jay,

We have a similar situation. We are a small company, running Domino on an iSeries and have 12 BlackBerry users. Our users just want mail from Notes to appear on their BlackBerry. Buying an additional server and Domino license to run BES was too cost restrictive for us. We have been using a mail forwarding software, WirelessMail from MartinScott, for about 3 years now. It forwards incoming mail from the Inbox to the device. It has been working well for us.
