I hope I am not embarassing you with this post Stan…but every time I come up here and look for a solution, I almost always find a post from you in the thread(s) that are returned via the search results. I don’t know if they do that spotlight thing anymore, but if they did you would def. get my vote. Anyway I just thought that you deserved an honorable mention for your consistent and knowledgeable contributions to this forum. Thanks. Perhaps I’ll bump into you in the CLP forum at lotusphere or something.
Andrew, I agree! Stan has been a major help to so many people here, it can’t be understated. They do definetly do the member spotlight and I strongly suggest that you nominate Stan.
I might also add a couple of others who happen to be in my spotlight, Andre Guirard and Ben Langhinrichs, both who also seem to show up in untolled numbers of posts and with tons of advice.
Subject: RE: Kudos: Let’s Not Forget Ben and Andre
Actually (and this is being serious), I have asked a total of six questions in these fora (plus a couple in the beta forum for ND6). Three of those were unnecessary – I could have searched, but I was a forum newbie. One other was a documentation question, and another was a solicitation for translations for a multilingual application demonstration. I also acknowledged my election (if something like two votes can be called a mandate) to the exalted position of Forum Spotlight Member, and notified the community of Bill Ernest’s passing. Then there was the dynamic view wish, made before I understood the architectural considerations (I’d been working with Notes for less than three months).
Everything else I was able to find by searching. Seems like I’ve never had an absolutely unique problem. Very few of the postings here are really new problems (or new classes of problem). And while I spend a ridiculous amount of what should be valuable time answering people’s questions, I do wish that folks would take a little bit more time to see if their questions have already been answered.
Without peole like Stan, Ben, Andre et al. these forums wouldn’t really be the hotbed of information, problem sharing and solutions that they are. All the best.
There are many other regular contributors and folks who have helped me work my way through some difficult issues. (not to mention the easy issues that I just couldn’t get through my head)
