I need to upgrade the Notes Clients on a whole bunch of workstations from 5.x to 6.5 and want to do this with as little user intervention as possible.
This shoud be a pretty easy task, but here is the tricky part:
I have to do this at the same time as the users are upgraded from WinNT to XP - So they will not have the old client on their computers. All they have are their id-file, bookmark.nsf and names.nsf stored in the network home folder.
I plan on doing local shared installations.
Can I copy the personal files to the users local windows profile and then somehow bypass the installation wizard?

Hi Mauritz
Your best option is to look at Installshield (it is part of the Lotus CD collection and is free). It enables you to create a custom installation for Domino Clients using predefined responses, ensuring the user doesn’t have to make any selections from a wizard.
Create the setup installation files from installshield on a network drive and then run a batch file from the network login scripts or simply get the user to launch a batch file that launches the installation of the client but still displays information regarding the progress of the installation. :-
\NotesR6ClientUpgrade\setup.exe /v"/qb+ TRANSFORMS=Upgrade.mst"
Then assuming you have already copied the key files such as Notes.ini, user.id , names.nsf back to the directory stated in your transform file then the user will not have to go through the motions of configuring the client setup.
Good luck :- PS there is also a good IBM redbook on automating client installations

What user access is required to their pc’s and laptops to allow this script to work?
