I’m setting up a new Domino 9.0.1 server on an IBM Bladeserver running Windows 2012 R2 x64. The blade itself has two drives installed in a RAID-1 configuration, and this “C” drive is where the server OS is installed. The blade’s “D” drive is 2 TB of a RAID-5 array, with nothing currently on it.
My first instinct was to put Domino’s program and data directories on the D drive–that’s how my existing server is configured–but I’m now wondering if there would be a performance benefit in putting the program files on C and the data directory on D. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Subject: Program on C:, data on D:
I think that Bradley meant that the Domino program directory should be on C: and the data directory should be on D:. If this is what he meant then I agree.
Subject: Suggestion
Do you “own” the c drive? Usually companies don’t want anything but os on the c and put programs on d e f drive
Subject: Where to put Domino and Data directories
It is usually better to place the Domino Directory tself on the D drive, and the data directory on the D drive. This way, your program is running directly from teh C drive, and the datafiels are running fro the network. If you should at some time wish to reconfigure the server, it will be simpler if the Data directory is on a separate drive.
