Using Domino 5.0.x I’ve always set (when necessary) the option “Automatically enable Edit Mode” for forms that users wanted immediately ready for input once opened. testing the applications in a Domino 6 environment I’m facing this problem: when a user who has read access tries to open document (automatically enabled in edit mode) he sees the message “You cannot update or delete the document since you are not listed as an allowable Author for this document”. Why the document is not opened just in read mode ? Do I have to modify all the applications, testing if that user has reader/editor access to that document in that situation and try to avoid editing it. Is there an easier solution or am I missing something ? The problem occurs when I set Document Locking for that Database and I’d like to use it.

use a subform or script library for controllig edit mode that will reduce yr maintenance.
