why lotus notes cannot autocomplete email address when we start addressing email to person we previously exchange email with but we do not have it in our PAB or NAB?In outlook you email person once and next time it knows who you trying to email as soon as you start typing email address, why notes cannot do such simple and useful operation?

No, just hopping this it doable to satisfy some of my org users constantly complaining about notes and why we do not use… something else? that’s allThey do not but the fact that there is 125 millions of LN sits around the world, all they care is that notes does not do something

the Notes 8 Beta, you would not have asked this question.

File Save, thank you for letting me know this is new feature in R8 at least I can tell people this will be available in next release… and NO I did not spend any time to look what’s new in beta release, generally do not have time to “play” with piece of software that is partially release and full of bugs. I will get to it when it’s time for an upgrade

It should be possible in Notes 8…
And I doubt you will ever get your users to love Notes - you should try to tech them what Notes is and what it can that Outlook cant.
I will bet that if they get Outlook they will start to complain about something else. “Why doesnt the Outlook icon not have such a smooth color as Notes has”. “Why dont we have all those nice views”. - Users simply complain as they have much time (was hard said, sorry).
There is not point in making Notes into an Outlook clone. Notes is not a simple mail client like Outlook. If you only use mail you should go for something else.

Users are “complaining by definition” as you said this is not a news to me, have been long years in IT to know enough about it, and you’re right if you tell them we are switching to outlook they would be happy but it won’t last long they will find something else to complain about… as far as our lotus notes usage we do not use it now for anything else but email, C&S, IM, sametime, R&RR, simple team rooms (notes out of the box) which could be easily replaced with exchange, live communication servers combination, is it worth it to make them happy? Do not knowWe used to use Domino as underlying platform for several in-house developed CRM type of applications but they complain so much that management decided to get rid of it and go with out-of-the-box enterprise known name solution with plug-in to Lotus Notes that allows synch To Do, Calendar, e-mail message, at the beginning it was WOW! what a improvement then they start complaining again, maybe not as much as used to ![]()

If you want to complain… this is not the venue. If you want to compare Notes to Outlook, I think you’ll find many more things notes can do that outlook cannot.
If however, you want to add names to your personal addressbook… you can do that from your inbox, or from within an email… then those names will autocomplete as you desire… there is a caveat however, email addresses stored locally are not managed by your Notes Administrators.
This means, if someone’s name is changed, or someone leaves your company, you could have invalid email addresses stored in your personal addressbook… so autocomplete would provide invalid email addresses… so just store non-employees.
You will then have autocomplete with employees (built in now) and autocomplete from those you decided to keep.
Best Wishes

Personally, I have tons of messages in my mailbox, from people I rarely communicate with. I certainly would not want those names showing up in autocomplete. I only want autocomplete for those people I have added to my PAB.
Subject: RE: autocomplete email address in lotus notes
as always there are different points of view, I proably could agree with you but not everyone will and some people would like to see this feature in notes

This is not about to complain or compare if there is anything why I’m mentioning outlook here is to give an example of another email client that “can do it” if you do not like word outlook how about we exchange it with yahoo, does it as well on the web. “… by your Notes Administrator” well this is me for last 5 years (one of many hats) asking simple question that I cannot find answer for? Isn’t what is this forum for?
