Auto Sync not working on Nokia phone

Hi We have just installed Lotus Domino 8.5 and Lotus Traveler 8.5 and we are pushing mails to both Symbian and Windows Mobile deveice. So far so good…looks very neat and easy to instal and configure!

But I have not been able to get autosync to work on my Nokia E50 symbian device. I have to manually do a Send / Receive always to receive the mails. What could be the problem, I have autosync set to “On” and there is no other setting that I have come across…Could you please help me debug or point me to some configuration guide perhaps…?

Sudhir,On you device turn the Autosync setting to Off and then turn it back On. That may get it working.

Subject: Nokia Carrier?

Are you using GPRS on this device? If so try wifi to see if that works. Some device carriers may block the push notifications which are sent over TCPIP port 8642 by default, where as a manual sync occurs over TCPIP port 80. If auto sync works over wifi, then this is likely the scenario.

Subject: Is Auto Sync on?

Sudhir,

just to clarify, if you see Options->Auto Sync->On on your device, that means Auto Sync is actually disabled. After you select that to turn it on, the option will be displayed as Options->Auto Sync->Off.

Subject: Is Auto Sync on?

Right, Nokia and Windows Mobile devices display the Auto Sync setting a little differently. Nokia device only shows the value it will be set to if you select it, not the current value of the setting.

Subject: Auto Sync on Nokia

Sudhir,

to see the logs on Nokia, go to Traveler->Options->Tools->View Log.

I’m assuming that, at this point, you have already tried restarting the device, right?

Ricardo.

Subject: Formal support process

If you would like to get someone fully engaged in resolving this problem, please feel free to submit a formal problem report. In this case you should gather the Server and client logs and submit via one of the processes below. This Info Center topic discusses how to locate, view and submit Lotus Notes Traveler logs:

Hope this helps.

Subject: PMR

Thanks to both of you for response.

To answer your queries.

Yes I have restarted the device…As I said earlier , I can receive and send all mails manually, but it does not work automatically…I can live with that for the moment, but I would like to solve this issue before we bring other people on to the server.

I have collected all logs from the server and device and will post a PMR shortly. I scanned through the logs and I dont see any visible problem…

Subject: Update available for Nokia client on Fix Central

FYI - we just posted an Interim Fix to Fix Central that covers, among other things, Auto Sync issues with the Nokia Client. Please try the update and see if that resolves the problem.

Lotus → Lotus Notes Traveler → 8.5.0.1 → All → Browse All → 8.5.0.1-LNT-LO37251

Note: The particular APAR is for battery performance, but includes other APARs including the Nokia Auto Sync APAR LO37884. See the readme file inside the zip for complete list of APARs included in the Interim Fix.
