I’ve recently upgraded our production infrastructure to Domino 8.5 starting with admin server for the Domino directory, then the SMTP gateway servers and now some spoke servers.
I have created an auto-populated group but days later it still has no members. I can’t see what might be wrong.
I found numerous information documents from blogs and wikis on Google.
One told me that the ldap task must be running on the server for auto-populated groups to work. I loaded the ldap task, no success.
One told me that I could use the console command “tell autopop process” - I ran this on a spoke server and got an error that the task didn’t exist. I tried to load autopop, but that didn’t work either. I tried the same console command on the admin server and didn’t get an error…but nothing happened at all.
I’ve tried numerous interval values in the directory profile document but nothing can get this to work.
Any ideas?

Question:Why aren’t my Auto Populating Groups Auto Populating?
Answer:
“Domain defined by this Domino Directory:” in Directory Profile did not match the “Mail Domain” specified in the Auto Populated Group Record
DDM Event will be generated to notify Administrator
Note: “Mail Domain” can also be blank in the Auto-Populated Group Record and that will populate just fine
“tell autopop process” shoudl work on the Admin Server of you Domino Directory only… It obviously needs to be at 8.5 and have the 8.5 Domino Directory Design… No need to have LDAP running…

Subject: No success
John,
Appreciate the reply, but that didn’t work at all.
The domain name in the directory profile was correct, there was no entry in the group doc. I added the domain name to the group doc but it’s had no effect.
Any other ideas?
