All,
I have Session Authentication in the server document disabled which means when a user hits the server he is prompted with the dialogue box to enter username and password. Now I want a form, the database containing that form will have author access for Anonymous. Now the form will have 2 fields username and password. Is there a way to authenticate the user from this form and open his/her email. The url names.nsf?login&username=username&password=password&redirestto doesnt work here since Session Authentication is disabled.
Any help is appreciated.

Subject: Authentication through Script
You [used] to be able to incorporate the username and password in the URL for any site that used basic authentication using @ notation i.e.
http://username:password@server/db.nsf/form?openform
[Un]Fortunately the latest security patches for IE6 have removed this feature:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;834489
HTH - Rufus.

How to disable the new default behavior for handling user information in HTTP or HTTPS URLsTo disable the new default behavior in Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer, create iexplore.exe and explorer.exe DWORD values in one of the following registry keys and set their value data to 0.• For all users of the program, set the value in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE
• For the current user of the program only, set the value in the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE

Subject: I suppose it’s stupid to ask why you’ve disbaled session authentication?
It is the obvious (and correct) approach here, as well as infintely more secure than basic authentication.
