Attention: Crashing on Mac Notes 8.5 if you have installed Beta 2 of VMWare Fusion

You may experience crashing when bringing up context menus in Notes, if you’ve installed VMWare Fusion. This is a known issue.

Declan Lynch has posted a workaround for this issue, and VMWare has been made aware of the issue. You will see this issue even if VMWare isn’t running.

You can remove VMWare fusion, or have a look at some workarounds that have been recommended.

Subject: more info from our crashes

We went to the the folder and checked for the plugin mentioned in the posts above. No plugin. No files in the folder at all. It doesn’t look like that’s it.

Looking at the fault reports, we are crashing in 3 ways:

org_eclipse_swt_internal_carbon_OS_AEProcessAppleEvent + 71

" " " " _carbon_OS_SendEventtoEventTarget + 31

" " " " _carbon_OS_CopyBits + 155

Subject: What about with Fusion 1.12

We have been experiencing lots of crashes and are running vmware fusion 1.12 for a virtual PC that has some legacy apps we still need to run. We did find that if we left the VM program off, we experience less crashes when clicking tabs or actions, or control clicking (to do right click). We assumed it was something weird w/just the Notes 8.5 1 and 8.5 2 beta, but this is interesting.

Anyone else seeing this?
