Attchmants and Fulltext Indexing (no one knows the answer)

Hi

I have now had several databases that are fulltext indexed including attachments

but when i do a search for text within the attachments e.g. search for “Bla Bla” in a Word document when i know the Word Document has the text “Bla Bla” in it.

The document does not appear as a search result

There has been a few posts regarding this issue, but no one has ever answered with a reason for this behaviour

So come on gurus, give us your best explanation for this behaviour

I am not “no one”, neither am I sure wether I can provide an answer. Attachment Ft indexing works fine for me (server 6.5.4. FP3 on W2003, client 6.5.2 on XP SP2).

Maybe too obvious, but did you tick the checkbox “index attached files” while creating the FT index ?

What is your setting for update frequency ? (db on local or server ?)

What do you get while clicking on “count unindexed documents” ?

My apologies if this has already been covered in previous posts of yours !
