I have a forum that I want the person that starts the form to attach files so I made a rich text filed. The rest of the people need to just read the attachments so I made a text field that computes to the first field and I hide them accordingly. It works great but a few time they want to add a lot of attachments (6 or more) and they get a message that says “Field is too large (32k) or View’s column & Selection formulas are too large. Error found attempting to quit. Chose yes to continue editing, No to Quit.” I looked around and someone said you need to make it a rich text filed when you get that message. So I made the read only field a rich text field just like the first one but when it computes there is nothing there.Does any one have any ideas for me?

Richtext fields do not trasnfer data just by feild name reference like text, numerical feilds do.
Instead of using multiple fields to have the edit/read only rights, try using logical roles (or) names based on the state of the document. Add these roles to author field or write the logic in the section as to who will get the edit right (or) read only rights to the document or the section within the document. It’s simple.
