"ASSERT in LSP" crash on client

On a Notes 7.0.2 client on XP the following error message is displayed randomly when Notes is being used:

nlnotes.exe

Assert in LSP

g_socket_data.Lookup(s) == 0

capture\lsp\nolsp\wsp_patches.cpp:1381

It started, according to the user, after he applied the update Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 to Windows XP and rebooted. I have run a repair through the 7.0.2 installation program but it did not help.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated,

Ned Grubb

I can’t offer any help but I just got a new workstation yesterday and I’m getting the same error message. I’ve got MSIE 6 and Notes 6.5.1 so it doesn’t seem to be specific to the browser or Notes client version.

I had this error with GDSE 5.0.0611.13328-en-pb. The new version 5.0.0611.15590-en-pb I downloaded today seems to fix it.

Running install of Lotus Notes V6.5.4 on Win XP SP2 I had the same error. I removed the Google desktop from my system and the problem was solved.

This is absolutely correct, Google Desktop is the problem

10x to you all

This appears to be the common factor for the people I’ve seen getting this error

Thanks!

I removed the Google Desktop application and the error message stopped.

Add me to the list of people that uninstalled Google Desktop (GD)and the problem went away. I don’t know what they did with the latest version but it doesn’t agree with Notes. The workstation that I was using the day before had an older version of GD and was working well.

Thanks for the tip, Ned!

Same here. Google desktop was not a problem til upgrading to the latest version.

Subject: Google Desktop

I saw the same problem this morning, which was when I first rebooted after updating Google Desktop to the latest version. After I uninstalled Google Desktop, the errors ceased to pop up.

I made a note about this thread in my reason for uninstalling Google Desktop, so maybe the Google Desktop team will address the problem shortly.

I have had a couple of users getting the same message and uninstalling Google Destktop fixed every instance. Seems you guys have found the culprit.
