Are you a Notes/Domino developer? Please take this survey

Lately I have seen a large number of posts in this forum from people who are obvious new to development in Notes/Domino.This indicates that Notes development is not dead or shrinking.

At the same time, there is talk about how Notes is dying, nobody develops new applications for it, etc.

Those two facts don’t compute.

So my question is, if you are doing Lotus Notes/Domino programming, please take this survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/D3TTT6L

Subject: STILL NOT DYING!

Karl, thanks for bringing this up for the newbies. I’ve been working with Notes for 15 years, and I’ve been hearing this from the beginning. I’m glad I didn’t listen back then! It has been a much better career than I would have had otherwise. Just because a technology isn’t at the top of everyone’s “buzzworthy” list doesn’t mean it is dying.

Subject: I will post the results…

In a week or so, when I have a number of results, I will post the result. I think that will be very interesting.

Subject: Preliminary results

As of right now, 48 people have answered the questions.1 is from Middle East, 2 from India, 25 from North America, 17 from Western Europe and 3 from Australia/NZ.

Everyone but one claims to have 2 years or more of Notes development experience, and a majority (66%) are developing internal applications for the company where they are employed.

94% create Notes client applications (and 43% Domino web applications) and 95% use Lotusscript.

So, all you newbies here in the group with Indian names working for consulting/outsourcing companies, start filling out the survey!
