Hi
We’re considering using AVG antivirus for our Domino 6 mail servers.
If you have had any problems or good experiences with AVG for Domino please will you share it with the rest of us?
Many thanks

Subject: Anyone using AVG antivirus for Domino 6 server? Any problems?
Hi again,
There are a few minor issues; AVG’s proxy - You may want to turn this off. The help files can be difficult to read because the author(s) don’t use English as their first language and can be very technical/wordy.
Apart from those niggles, it’s a damn sight cheaper than most of the competition and it works just as well.

Many thanks for the info. It is good to know there are no major issues.
Thanks again.

Subject: Anyone using AVG antivirus for Domino 6 server? Any problems?
Hi,
We’ve used it for over two years and haven’t had any major problems with it. I runs as two services in Domino; one for scanning mail as it arrives or leaves the mailboxes and the other scans on schedule nightly. It handles archives well but can have problems with htm files.
It appears to act as a proxy for the mail server, if you telnet to your server all you see is AVG ESMTP but maybe other mail AV programmes do that.
It also has the ability to remove named and user specified attachments from incoming mails.
