Is anyone aware of an MRP system written for Notes/Domino platform? I’ve looked everywhere I can think of and haven’t been able to find anything, but I know from experience that doesn’t mean there’s nothing out there.
We do very low volume production, but the inventory and production asset tracking is critical (government contractor dealing with government property). We’re currently doing it by hand, but there’s got to be something better out there!
I can’t point you to anything commercial but will tell you we have rolled our own for pretty much an entire business managment system.Electronic assembly/test processes (image based with data collection available).
WIP management
Config management
Supplier approval
Non Conforming Material management
Failure tracking (the FRA part of FRACAS)
Stop orders
Hot list (short inventory)
Training management
DCO tracking
ECO tracking (we don’t DO ECOs or DCOs in Notes, just track status).
I have to say that we also use Oracle’s business system for the ERP part of what we do and most of the stuff I do in Notes SHOULD be part of Oracle but we don’t have the modules or opted to configure Oracle so features were not available (ie the config management).
I do, however, run LCSLX code to pull things like part numbers and vendor data out of Oracle into Notes db so we can use them in Notes. I’ll also do things like grab incoming receipt transactions from Oracle into Notes and then use Notes to ping the quality engineers or team leaders about key PO receipts.
Not all of it is pretty, but it works pretty well. If you happen to be in the New England area and want to drop in for a look-see, email me (it’s in my profile).
None of what we use is shrink wrapped or saleable (as of today) but I suppose that’s something we could discuss.
