So far I cannot find any template that uses any new feature of Domino 7 in sandbox that I can explore, to explore further. Any one know of any good links? tqvm.

A good source of information is the Domino Designer Help database which normally has example code for most functions / methods.
Also to get a list of all the new features check the ‘Release Notes’ database.
And finally also have a look at some of the templates that get installed along with the Notes client.
