Any experience of transactional logging on a cluster?

Running domino 8.5 64bit with domino cluster (two servers).

We have the data directory on a SAN and now having huge problems with the daily backups.

It has to make a full backup every time of the databases.

I want to inplement archived transactional logging and backup the log files with HP’s Data Protector. Anyone having experience of that?

Can I have archived log files in the data folder

How much disk space do I need if I add another disk on the SAN?

Do I need to run transactional logging on both servers?

Subject: have a look on daos

Hi,

First i hope you have the data folders on the san and do not use one data folder for both systems.

I think you should have a look on daos. With daos, attachments weren’t saved in the nsf and are unchanged the whole time after storing on disk. Your databases gets smaller and attachments aren’t saved only one time in your full backup.

You win time, tapes and disk space.

Is it possible to use daos without transactional logging.

How about the cluster. Should it work if I activate daos on my cluster mate for test purpose?

Tried to run the daos tool without success.

daosest -h in the domino console but got unrecognize command…

I putted the daosest.exe in the domino directory on the server.

Subject: No, DAOS requires transaction logging.

Subject: setup with data protector

I can see that I need Lotus C API and ldbar.exe to get this work on my domino server.

Is there any documentation for this?
