Antispam software required

Hi,

I need to install an antispam software on my domino server. Could you give me some hints on which one to choose, with a price for this software?

Thanks a lot,

Sylvain

McAfee has a beta of SpamKiller for Domino. Check http://www.nai.com

And KSpam is a new project at http://www.openntf.org

We have been enjoying the cost of using Server Mail Rules on our Domino SMTP servers. We have had no problems with it and it matched our budget…free!

The problem I have with “more scalable” products is there limitations to allow associates to access the quarantined messages securely. At lease with Domino we can do whatever we want with the content when it gets quarantined.

Thanks to all for your answers.I’m going to do what David C suggests, using the precious document submited by Alan L (red book).

Thanks again

Can’t resist the opportunity to get back on my hobby horse one more time (sorry).

My advice - use software as a backstop defense, not as your only defense. By that I mean, take full advantage of the protocol level possibilities (DNSBL and so on) to block spam at source, then have a software package behind all that which catches what makes it through.

We use the Trend Micro ScanMail for Lotus Notes antivirus system here (SMLN) and that includes (at extra cost) a plug in called eManager which does for spam what SMLN does for viruses. And very effective it is too, so I recommend that.

We use this same Trend Micro package, as well. I have found that while it does block around 50000 emails a month, it still only stops around 20% of our spam. I do not recommend this for spam - antivirus, yes, but spam, no.

http://www.mimeshield.com is a good Domino Solution. It will stop well over 90% of the spam. It is completely administered in Notes and has many advanced features. It will also allow for users to keep there own personal safe lists if the administrator does not want to administer the entire system.

The price is dependant on the number of seats used.

Subject: We are using server based rules and SpamJam…

Spamjam is processed by each clients mail database so that configurations can be set by the individual user. The problem is that some words or phrases if placed in the Server Rules might produce a False Positive. As an example if the subject contains the word “Inkjet” I want to reject it, but for the person in purchasing this would be a False Positive. So the combination of Server Rules and a client based filter works well for me.

if you requirement is still active , the only antispam you should look at is www.spamjadoo.com , which is actually ANTI to spam , rest everybody receives the spam and filters them to junk folder. They provide trial for 30 days FREE.

Subject: currently testing no.spam.domino

I’m testing Darren Crocker’s no.spam.domino at this moment (http://www.drcc.com) The problem is, I’m not getting much spam at the server I’m testing it on, so I can’t judge it’s effectiveness. Anyone with more experience with this package?

The main reason we’re evaluating no.spam.domino: it’s cheaper than SpamJam. Besides, some of our SpamJam users begin to complain about the levels of spam passing through SpamJam nowadays. A SpamJam update seems to be neccessary, but hasn’t been delivered yet.

We offer an anti-spam and anti-virus solution called ClearMail. It stops virtually 100% of user’s spam and it has been very well received by our current customers. ClearMail is available for a one time (i.e. no annual fees to pay) fee of $20 per user with quantity discounts available.

Try SpamSentenial, it has both a server and client versiosn that work pretty well. Go to http://www.maysoft.com

Please take a look at our software, Spam Dam for Lotus Notes, at http://www.spamdam.net.

Spam Dam allows users to automatically build their own “whitelists” of accepted email addresses by using challenge/response to confirm that email is coming from legit people. Spam Dam requires no administrative effort and very little user intervention, and works with nearly 100% effectiveness.

There’s a 30-day risk-free version available on the website, so please try it out (and send feedback!). Spam Dam works well with server and firewall solutions, too - the stuff that gets through those will be caught before reaching the Inbox. ND6 DNSBL filters and Spam Dam have cut spam in the Inbox down to virtually nothing.
