Annoying beep in Designer

OK, stop laughing, this is serious!!

I’m currently developing at a clients office using one of their standard PC’s with Notes Domino Designer installed.

My problem is that for every mouse-click the computers internal speaker beeps. I mean EVERY mouse-click; talk about irritating!!!

The computer does not have any sound cards or so.

I also have another PC at the desk with R5 on it and it does not beep.

Hmmm!

It sounds ridiculous but it’s true, I’m not kidding!!

Any clues?!!?

TIA

/Mike

I would go into Windows’ sound settings and disable all the sound events and then add in the ones you REALLY want.

Either that or uninstall and reinstall.

Domino should only beep when a messagebox appears etc.

Same problem…here’s the fix. The answer was posted in the forums some time ago.

Something gets screwed up with the toolbar. You need to add/remove some of them (forget which ones) and the beeping will go away.

The mistery has been solved thanks to Matt Kiazyk’s tip about the toolbar. It is the Universal Toolbar that’s screwed up. Why I do not know but after removing it the beeping stopped.

Thx, now I can remove my ear plugs and be social again with my colleagues

Thanks so much for the solution, this just started last week for me and has been driving me nuts

Am I glad I found this post (albeit years later). I also found that removing the UT worked, but then wondered what in it was the problem. Through trial and error I discovered, for me at least, it was the ‘edit document’ button in the toolbar which caused the beeping. I don’t know why, unless every time you click on something it tries to access the button by default. Anyway, thanks again.

Subject: WOW - this post still helps, 2 years later.

Thanks to everyone who contributed - my sanity just might return now that the beep is gone.

I also have been traumatized by this problem, however, it’s not my Universal toolbar that’s causing the problem.

Mine is caused by a custom toolbar that I built to replace all the others. Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out just which button ON that toolbar is causing the problem. Hiding the bar seems to make it go away though.

FYI.
