All certificates expired

I have a Domino 6.0.3 server that we use in the test lab. While it is always running, it is very seldom logged into. I discovered today, while beginning a new project using this server, all user certificates have expired. This includes the administrator account. With the administrator account expired I cannot figure out how to recertify any ids since the administrator account cannot login. I found one entry in this forum with a similar problem. There was a suggestion to reset the time on the server to a date prior to the expiration and recertify the ids to a date past the current real date. This did not work for me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated since I can find nothing else here or on Google dealing with all certs being expired.

If you roll back the windows time on the server (and your admin client machine too!) this should work. Keep in mind you have to shut down the notes server process (and admin client) before you make the time change. Once you’ve rolled things back a year then bring them back up. Look at the console to see if its reflecting the new time, if so you should be good to go. From here you can party like its 1999.

Brian,

Thanks, that worked. I only went back to Jan 01, 2008 the first time. This time I went back to Sept.

Modifying your system time is a really bad practice that can have disastrous consequences. I understand that this is a just a test server, but I do want to point out the danger in this activity.

Your other option would have been to recertify the Admin ID locally (i.e. while not connected to the server). You can then bring down the server and open the address book locally to paste in the public key. The Admin ID can then recertify the user IDs.
