As I mentioned in my last post "My second thoughts during the manual deployment" in this thread I install the Volt MX Go manually (the hard beta tester way ;-) ) and failed.
Here my thoughts about the installation documentation Volt MX with Tomcat / mySQL.
What I miss:
- I found no basics about how Tomcat and mySQL should be installed and configured for Volt MX components
- There is no central theme (in german we call it red thread) in the installation process on this page "Installing Volt MX Foundry on Tomcat - Console-mode" - a mixture of installation and troubleshooting steps
for example:
I prefer Troubleshooting links in the documentation like this...
but I find it not comfortable to read troubleshooting steps in the installation documentation.
- I had an error between step 22 and 23. Here I found no troubleshooting note which manual steps I have to do for finish the installation.

What I wish:
- step-by-step documentation for the basics installation of Tomcat and mySql with the necessary steps for Volt MX Go especially the configuration part. A good example is this one "How to install and configure MySQL 8.0 on CentOS 8 to be used by SafeLinx 1.2 server and above ?"
- Please split the installation in more sections and create a ToC on the right for better navigation through all steps.
- ... and split installation from troubleshooting documentation - Troubleshooting at the end of the document or in a separate site.
One tip: In my opinion the best way should be... please give a student with basic linux knowledge all installation files and the product documentation and let him/her run. When he/she finished the deployment with the documentation and no questions to the dev/doc team than the documenation has no gaps and can be used for the Volt MX Go GA.
Thank you for listing.
