Affordable Spam control...is there such a thing?

Does anyone have any suggestions on a affordable spam solution for notes? By affordable i mean less than $5000

You probably don’t need to spend a dime to address most of your spam problems.

I use a Barracuda Networks Spam Firewall 300. It is a 1U rackmount box, I would assume running some flavor of linux. It costs $1900 plus $300/yr for software updates and another $400/yr for hardware maintenance. That’s it, there are NO per-account, per-user or monthly charges.

It does virus scanning, DNSBL lookups, black and whitelists, per-user quarantines, regular expressions filtering, Bayes filtering, and a whole lot more that I’ve never set up. I run two mail domains on mine, and it supports up to 10 I think. You can have it deliver mail to different domains to different SMTP servers.

How about some free ones. Maybe they are sufficient for your needs :-))

or why not place a separate SMTP-Proxy server before your Domino-server which does antispam and virus checking.

Well, I’d look at spamJam (see http://www.gsw.com for info), and last I looked it cost something like $3500 for 1000 users. You don’t say how big you company is, but that might fit your budget. spamJam is also extremely flexible and configurable by user or admin. (No, I don’t get a commission or anything, I’m just a big fan)

IMHO is the best anti spam tool out there and since the price is per user it may be cost effective for you.

We are using them and love it- zero admin, in fact never had to to configure a black or white list. The big thing we liked about this (and we looked at others, Spam Sentintental, Spam Jam, etc.) is that it’s built by ex-Iris guys and that their they gaurantee no more than 1 in 1,000,000 messages would ever be a false positive. No else (I could find) can make a similar gaurantee. Spam is one thing, losing legit mail b/c of your spam filter is even worse.

Subject: Take a look at MIMEShield

Take a look at MIMEShield. It is a one time cost based off of the number of user seats. It is generally cheaper than any of the anti-spam services or hi-end appliance that are available.

The new release (v 2.5.0) can stop over 99% of the spam. It has the ability to programmatically manage over 90% of the spam so the quarantine stays small. You can have the users manage there own quarantine using notes or web, or you can manage it for them.

It achieves a 99% spam blockage rate by automatically learning the type of mail you normally receive. This new learning system also works well in a multilingual environment.
