AdSync password synchronization

I try to use AdSync to synchronize password between NAB and AD but it doesn’t work.It synchrozize only if i force new password

or if i create a new user from AD. Why?

I need to keep always user password synchrozize.

I don’t understand if this is a bug of Adsync or a way of work?

Use Notes single logon to keep AD & Notes passwords sync’d.

Subject: RE: AdSync password synchronization

David, why are you going on about Single Logon when that has nothing to do with synch’ing a user’s AD password with their Notes Internet Password found in their person document …

Do you understand the difference?

The problem here is related to ADSync not synch’ing passwords when the doco says it can …

Subject: RE: AdSync password synchronization

Because I do understand the differences. You can not use ADSync to automatically sync an end-users AD password change to the Domino HTTP password. You, as the administrator, can make ADSync force a common password from the MMC into both the AD user and the Domino HTTP Password. There is nothing automatic about ADsync, it is all manual. Automatic sync of Domino HTTP password would require a Domino security policy to sync Notes and Domino HTTP and NSL to sync AD and Notes ID.

I am the IBM developer for both. That’s why I am “going on” about it.

Sorry for questioning your knowledge on this subject … you’re right of course … at the time I was having issues getting Single Login to work, and our policies weren’t behaving well to synch the HTTP password and I was starting to think that none of it worked as per the doco … and getting frustrated to boot …

I have since got both functions to work and don’t need ADSync at all, which I really see as having limited use in most password synch scenarios … am I wrong in thinking this?

Subject: “Notes single logon” ???

Sorry my stupid (?) guestion. I work with Lotus Notes since 1991. But i don´t know what you mean with “single logon”.

Subject: RE: “Notes single logon” ???

As Thomas mentioned it is a client install option that allows Windows & Notes to share a password. It allows bi-directional password change synchronization:

  • when a user changes their Notes password, the Windows password is changed

  • when the user changes their Windows password, the Notes password is changed

Subject: RE: “Notes single logon” ???

Hi David,

Sorry to tell you that this does not actually work. When the user changes the windows password through Alt+Ctrl+Del, Domino password does not get changed to the new one automatically. You have to go to that user manually in AD and syncronize his account with Domino. I have tested this in a customer site.

Subject: thank you

thank you for this informationyes i know this feature as spezial option during the installation.

Subject: RE: “Notes single logon” ???

It’s a Windows NT service which you can optionally install as an advanced option during the Client install.
