One of users suddently received a large amount of returned emails like below:-

According to the user, she does not know both the sender and recipient, and did not send any email of them. inquiry is her alternative user name. We have installed Symantec SAVCE v9 and ad-ware anti-spyware for all workstations and servers. Can someone advise me of the possible causes and fixes.

Yep. Happens to us all the time.

She didn’t send any messages, but a spammer or virus is sending out a bunch of junk in her name. They frequently spoof the sender name using another email address they have acquired from someone’s address book or from a spamers’ address list.

There’s not really anything you can do about it. Part of today’s Internet noise.

They usually quit after a few days and go on to someone else.

Many thanks for your information. It is pity there is no way to stop it as she received nearly 10k emails in a day.
