Installation of FP1 on 8.5 client:- after install, client complained that ndgts.dll was missing. Copied file from 8.5 FP1 server
- then complained that nlsccstr.dll was missing. Copied from 8.5 FP1 server.
Client then starts OK.
All databases with FTIs show red blob - not indexed - in view search box.
Go to Properties box; shows non-zero index size. Click Count Unindexed, and get error:
File not found: c:\documents and settings\N0001\application data\mozilla\registry.dat (??)
Delete index; gives same error. but index is deleted. Create Index again, gives error in status bar and in local log.nsf:

Subject: You installation did not go properly
It appears your installation did not go properly. Did you manually copy files into a different data and program directory? It sounds like your registry values don’t match where your directories truly are. ndgts.dll & nlccstr.dll install with the fixpack.
You should run ISA to collect up your install logs etc in case you open a PMR through support to investigate. This technote has instructions how to run ISA from the command line in cases when you cannot launch the client: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21389356
Here is what I would recommend after collecting diagnostic:
-
Run the FP again to UNINSTALL it.
-
Do not skip step 1
-
Uninstall 8.5 through add/remove programs (again, please don’t do this until you have done step #1). This will NOT touch your data files. They will be left intact
-
Re-install 8.5 specifying data dir that you currently use
-
run the 8.5 FP1 installation again
I am running 8.5 FP1 without issue
Subject: That worked, but…
I had checked my registry settings, and the path and datapath were OK before I started the first time. But maybe it’s to do with having a server and a client on the same box, and the order in which they were originally installed. Anyway, that worked, mostly, and the Fulltext indexing and search is fine now.
While the deinstall/reinstall preserved my Notes setup, I did have to reinstall all the Sidebar apps, and that’s a pain. They were all visible in the My Widgets, but most didn’t work unless they were deleted and reinstalled.
