The very first server I upgraded with mail files, I received complaints that mail was getting restored to their inbox. Mail that was previously filed and/or deleted.
This happened to me too.
I’ve ran db maintenance (fixup -F -j, updall -R -X) before running. Restarted the servers a day prior just to ensure they were shutting down cleanly).
This morning the issue happened again on another server (4th server with issue…). Not all users get the issue, although some users don’t file/delete email.
I’ve not seen this issue with past upgrades, which have always been easy. Anyone else noticing problems like this???
I’ve been able to empty users’ trash to clean up majority of the problems.
what’s weird is how their trash folder is presented when I open it. Problem documents (ones’s restored to their inbox) are shown unread (red) while other normal ones are retained as black.
I have seen these returning emails on a very sporadic basis, but only on users who also have a Blackberry. Starting to think that may be part of the equation…
I believe it has something to do with the original mail85.ntf template mixed with the design/updall tasks after upgrading. I haven’t tested anything further myself. Just waiting for IBM to crunch this one for me.
Was supposed to have been fixed in BES 5.0 MR3, but shortly after MR3 was released RIM withdrew it.The bug involves mail databases with more than 255 folders. From RIM:
“This issue occurs when a BlackBerry smartphone user has a large amount of sub folders in their mail file (more than 255). Due to the way the folders are compared between the BlackBerry smartphone and the State Database, folders outside of the first 255 do not get referenced correctly and eventually get filed back to the inbox.”
