I am trying to install the 7.0.2 client on a USB drive. I have extracted the C94QIEN download and am using the below command in the command prompt.
setup /a /v"NOMAD=1 TARGETDIR=F:\ /qb+"
I have also tried:
setup.exe /a /v"NOMAD=1 TARGETDIR=F:\ /qb+"
setup /a /v"NOMAD=1 TARGETDIR=F: /qb+"
setup.exe /a /v"NOMAD=1 TARGETDIR=F: /qb+"
I am getting the “Preparing to Install” however it then errors with “This installation package could not be installed. Verify that the package exists …”
I have run the setup this on my PC so I’m very sure the software isn’t corrupt. Does anyone have any thoughts about this issue?
I think there is nothing wrong with the command you are using to install client. But u have to crosscheck the Drive Letter(F:) which u r giving for USB in your system.
Make note of the drive letter that is assigned to the USB drive because this drive letter assignment is dynamic and will change when you use that USB port in the future.
I now have it installed. I’m not 100% sure on the fix but I ended up copying the install files onto a cd and ran from there but also purchased a new USB drive (which didn’t install the first time). I also used F: in the command instead of F:\
Hi Steven,I tried to install but I had some problems …
In Windows XP I receive a windows message: “Please go to the control panel to install and configure system components”.
In Windows 2000 Pro I receive a Setup informatio Screen with the Help Parameters about setup.
I followed the documentation, and my question is about “Prerequisite” … , What does mean “obtain the Notes client-only installation code, and expand the files into a folder on your hard drive” ???
I think that “expand the files” is to install the notes client and go to notes program folder (e.g: c:\notes) , and to execute the command:
I got the same error message on Windows XP, and found that the issue was that my command prompt wasn’t pointing to the directory on the CD ROM, therefore make sure that the command prompt is in the client directory that contains the setup.exe for the Notes Client.
This means running the self-extracting file that you downloaded for the Notes Client-only installation code so that it extracts the appropriate files needed for the install/setup process onto your hard drive, LAN drive, etc. Make sure that you’re using the Notes Client-only install file (C94QIEN.exe ) and not the Full Client install file (C94QAEN.exe).
Once you’ve extracted the files, you’ll note that there is a setup.exe file (among several other files) in the folder that you extracted the files to. This is the executable file that you’ll run from the command prompt (and not the C94QIEN.exe file).
Start a command prompt and change the drive and directory to the folder that you extracted the files to (in my case it was C:\ND7Nomad). Plug the USB drive in and note the drive letter that was dynamically assigned (in my case it was drive E, and not F). Then, enter the following command, where X is the drive letter that was dynamically assigned to your USB drive when you plugged it in:
setup /a /v"NOMAD=1 TARGETDIR=X:\ /qb+"
Please note the following:
The double quotes surrounding the values for the /v switch are required
There is NOT a space between /v and the opening quote
There IS a space between the USB drive path (X:\) and the /qb+ switch
