6 years after introducing embedded views I still cannot define the ServerName :-(

It is a pity that the only (half)way to to this is faking with subforms or using DXL.Something like a @Formula

@EmbedView(server;view;[OptionalSingleCategory])

The current method that seems to use the server that is the first stacked on a users workspace soometimes causes performance problems (and replication and save conflicts).

Subject: There is a way…

In case you weren’t aware, programmatically specifying the server and database for an embedded view can be done in a roundabout way.The details are on Nathan Freeman’s blog: http://www.lotus911.com/nathan/escape.nsf/d6plinks/NTFN-755KEZ

The trouble is, as far as I can see, it’s impractical if you want multiple embedded views from the same target database.

Judging by the votes on IdeaJam, plenty of people would like Lotus to make this easier.

Subject: Thank you, I now voted on Idea Jam too but

Hello Scott, thank you. However as an Admin I hardly ever develop Notes applications. This is what I hear from customers. While the workaround / development tip from Nathan is a great idea and usable for more than embedded views only a fraction of customers will become aware of it.

I admit I haven’t checked IdeaJam before posting this.
