6.5 to 8.5 mail template - $Inbox cannot be found

When upgrading a 6.5.6 client to the mail85 template, getting error message “View: ($Inbox) was unable to launch”

Have tried several approaches. Replaced design with the mail6 template on Domino 8.5 server. Replaced design with just the 8.0 tempalte and still same problem.

After looking thru other posting, blogs, there seems to be a problem with upgrades. I can create a new 8.5 mail file without fail.

Can anyone point me to a simple solution ? We cannot rollout 8 until this is resolved.

Uncheck it and replace design again… Might need to check for other design elements that were prohibited from refreshing…

The inbox is a folder (nt a view) and the design is not prohibited.

Also , the $All docs view will not come up either. Sent, Drafts,… seem to .

Subject: More issues - “No Mail Server” and a “Reload” button?

Created a blank template from our 8.5 server , updated the mail file to wipe out anything that was mentioned in previous post , compacted, then replaced wiht the 8.5 mail template. The inbox is still not working but now I see “No Mail Server” and a “Reload” button ?

Has anyone had to deal with this ?

We have had the same issue, apparently it’s due to be fixed in 8.5 fix pack 1 and 8.5.1.

We solved it by opening the DB from the workspace via another view and turning of all attention indicators.

View → Go to… → select ‘Sent’ or ‘Drafts’ and then More → Preferences to edit the mail preferences.

On the Mail → Attention Indicators tab clear all the settings and then rebuild view using CTRL + SHIFT + F9.

This is great ! It solved all the problems such as seeing a Reload button, Mail server not available, cannot find inbox.

Of course attention indicators are very popular among key users (execs,…) so it is imperative that it be available.

One more thing, remember to add the Create_R85_Databases=1 to your servers ini file (use the Server admin configuration to add it.)
