554 5.1.0 Sender Denied

I’m using Exchange to relay mail to the internet. I can send mail to the internet through the Notes client but when I run an email agent in a custom database I get the following message:

SMTP to 10.0.0.2 554 5.1.0 Sender Denied.

If I change the email address in the agent to a Notes address it gets delivered without a problem.

I’ve seen articles on RBL - is that a direction I should pursue.

Subject: Check Allow Lists

Sounds like Exchange is only permitting sender addresses from the Notes Domain. Check or modify for allowances on the Exchange side… as well as the Config doc for the sending server…depending on which server or environment is doing the denial.

Subject: RE: Check Allow Lists

After adjusting some settings on the Exchange server to disable Blank Sender the mail message goes through fine. I’m not sure there is anything on the Domino side that I need to adjust to require a sender name - if that is even an option.

Is there an option in either code or server docs to ensure the message has a sender?

Thanks!!
